Dear Reader, Love Lee Mavin

Dear Reader,

I want to thank you for giving my book a life. You are the single most important thing to my book and are basically keeping it alive. I want you to dive all the way when you are reading and listen to the voice of Outis Everrett, the poet who changed the world, Gwenia Xiachung, the youngest daughter with twelve older brothers, who happens to be rebel vegan (unheard of in her country) and an expert archer. I want you to explore their countries. Outis lives in Asalandia, the great monarchy with golden shores and beautiful sunsets. Gwenia is from far away Kastanair, a busy democracy, constantly changing its leaders. Those two countries have been at war for thousands of years. I want you to question them. I want you to ask why they are war and how can things change. Most of all, I want you to get lost in my words.

Thank you for everything reader.

For centuries there had been an ongoing war between Asalandia, the proud monarchy of the east and Kastanair the progressive democracy of the west. However, the years of war would end with the most unlikely turn of events.

Outis Everrett, the disappointment of his family, a measly poet, is suddenly thrusted into an epic adventure across the sea, with the King’s blessing. His poem, the poem that somehow won the first annual Asalandian poetry competition, was meant to be taken across the seas, to the enemy island of Kastanair, there, it would be read by the President of Kastanair, the newly elected and very progressive, Penelope Chinwa and she was supposed stop the war after reading those so special words.

So Outis set sail aboard the Golden ship, guided and protected by the Knights of Sunrise and their adventures began. The Knights are led by Bartholemew Aries, the most famous soldier in Asalandia, though when their ship drifts off course to the mysterious island of Aquos Atalantious, the Princess of the island soon lures him to stay. So, the Knights of Sunrise become distracted by the beauties of this foreign island.  After failing to find the prince, who had been taken by a monstrous octopus, the Golden ship sails onto Kastanair, without its leader, who had fallen in love with the Princess. They then sail to Syanthia, where the worlds’ meat was produced. There they meet, the young Kastanairian, Gwenia Xiachung, an enthusiastic vegan on a mission to stop everyone eating meat. Outis is thrown into a pig saving mission with Gwenia and is intrigued by the young girl. After saving the pigs and convincing the head of meat production to change his ways with a beautiful poem about animal empathy, Gwenia falls in love with Outis. She joins him and the Knights of Sunrise on the voyage to back to her country, Kastanair. Once they finally reach the shores of Kastanair, they are attacked on the shores by a small army, led by Caslian Jesper, the tough captain who worked his soldiers to exhaustion. The Knights, Outis and Gwenia are rescued by Nastab and his band of terrorists who take them on horseback through Kastanair to Mount Xian. Nastab and his men come from a rebel group who had been dwelling on the plateau of Mount Xian, plotting to overthrow the government of Kastanair. However, their leader, who had driven their group to crimes and violence, was hoarding their food and treasure.

Caslian Jesper follows the terrorists to Mount Xian, in pursuit of two of his enemies at once, the terrorists and the Asalandians. Outis and Gwenia are suddenly taken off their horses by huge hawks, who fly them up Mount Xian, to a cave opening. There Gwenia and Outis meet The Tall Man, a strange man with huge black eyes who has no name. He takes them into the cave, and they fall more tall people. There they learn that the tall people had been in the caves for hundreds of years and they care not for treasures of war. The tall man collects water from an underground stream and fruits from the cave roofs and they take Outis and Gwenia up to the top of the mountain. There they find Caslian’s army had managed to climb to the top of the mountain in attempt to attack but they were too drained to fight so the tall man shared his fruit with them. Both sides rested as Outis read a poem to the leader of the terrorists.

Outis and Gwenia are then taken to the capital, by an eclectic group including Nastab, The Tall Man and the Knights of Sunrise, they journey through the planes of Kastanair where they are attacked by wolves. The Knights and Nastab fight the wolves off valiantly and they continue. When they finally reach the capital Outis reads his poem to the President, but it is not the words of his poem alone that convince her to stop the war, it is the group he brings with him, a group of once enemies, who had come together with the same goal.

Dear Reader, Love Michael Okon

Dear Reader,

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time and reading what was in my head just a few months ago.

I’ve been writing as far back as I could remember, specifically screenplays. After I learned about self-publishing, I began turning my scripts into novels under a pen name. Specifically, for my book Monsterland, in 2015, I was watching an 80s & 90s movie marathon with my kids – The Goonies, Gremlins, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, etc… I wrote the ghost novels, I wrote the witches novels, but I wanted to write a monster novel. After watching all these films, it literally popped into my head – why isn’t there a theme park with zombies. I called my brother and told him about my idea and he flat out said no. It has to be a theme park with werewolves, vampires AND zombies. I started beating out the story that night.

My mom is my publicity manager and she blitzed the bloggers with my book. That fall I was reading a book called Selling a Screenplay by Syd Field. In the book, there was an entertainment attorney named Susan Grode who seemed very knowledgeable about the publishing and film industry. I told myself, when I receive my first contract, I’m going to reach out to her to see if she could help me. About two months later, I received a post on Facebook from an agent in London who asked to represent me. I said sure and asked him to send me a contract. I emailed Susan and introduced myself and mentioned that I had someone who wanted to rep me and I was hoping she could read this contract. She told me before I sign with this London agent, why don’t I meet her friend in Brooklyn, an agent named Nick Mullendore with Vertical Ink Literary Agency. I met Nick for lunch and he signed me that day as his client. That evening, Susan brought me on as her client as well. Nick began trying to sell my book Monsterland to the big publishers and, as expected, it was rejected. Throughout his attempts of selling, he had a call with a film agent and he was pitching her a romance novel. She said she wasn’t really into romance and was looking for something with monsters. He sent her my book Monsterland, she read it over a weekend, and we had a call that Monday. She told Nick and me if we get the book published, she will get it into a producer’s hands to make into a film. Nick found a publisher called WordFire Press owned by Kevin J. Anderson, who has written all the Star Wars and Dune canon books. WordFire signed me to a two-book deal for Monsterland 1 & 2. After the deal was signed, my film agent did what she promised and got my book into the hands of a billion-dollar grossing producer who is now shopping my book to certain studios.  In two years, I went from a self-published author, to a published author with a literary agent, an entertainment attorney, a film agent, a two-book publishing deal, a publicist, and a producer who is interested in turning my book to a film. It’s been one wild ride, to say the least.

Logan Osborne has spent his life chasing the shadows of the past.

As a child, he watched helplessly as his father was snatched from a fishing boat by what he swore was a mermaid. No one believed him then. No one believes him now.

Determined to prove that mythical creatures exist, Logan is drawn back to the small coastal town where his nightmares began after another mysterious disappearance stirs the waters.

Teaming up with his pragmatic colleague Elliot Sheppard and his fiercely loyal friend Penny Swanson, Logan dives headfirst into an adventure packed with danger and deception. As they dig deeper, the trio faces resistance at every turn—a secretive agency with its own agenda, a suspiciously unhelpful police force, and Logan’s old flame, who may know more than she’s letting on.

What they uncover is far darker and more terrifying than Logan ever imagined: the truth about his father, the secrets of Minatuck, and the horrifying reality of the Mermaid of the Hamptons.

Will Logan and his friends expose the lies that have haunted him for years, or will they be Dragged Down Deep into the swampy, secretive underbelly of a town that guards its mysteries with deadly intent?

Dear Reader, Love Nancy Golden

Dear Reader,

I am thrilled that you have chosen to read the Ring of Rosin! I wanted to share with you why I write what I write. If you check out my website, nancygoldenbooks.com, you will find that my tagline is “Light in the Darkness.” I believe there is way too much darkness in the world. We are all going through so many trials and tribulations. To pick up a book is a terrific opportunity to take a break from all of that and be transported to another place where you can forget your troubles for a while. You can have some breathing space and refresh before you must enter the fray again. That is my heart’s desire for you, Dear Reader. When you pick up one of my books, you will find yourself entertained and you are able to forget your troubles for a little while. There will be challenges and many obstacles that must be overcome in this epic fantasy and you will be reading a well-crafted story. And when you are done, you will feel better, rather than worse, after reading my book.

So, let’s talk about Ring of Rosin a little bit. It’s the second book in my fantasy trilogy and I am so excited to have launched it. It is a stand-alone in that you can go ahead and read without reading Book 1, Sword of Fate, but if you do read Book 1 first, you will have a richer comprehension of the characters. Knowing their back stories will make the journey more enjoyable but it’s not necessary to understand what’s going on with Book 2. I’m very excited about the new characters that I introduce and the elements of cross-cultural interaction inherent in Ring of Rosin. I had a lot of fun throwing together characters from very different backgrounds and documenting their struggle to understand each other and get along.

One of my favorite reviews from Amazon says:

“The Ring of Rosin is a great book for young and old readers alike. The story is a fantasy adventure of young leaders trying to find their way and coming together, in spite of or because of their differences, and forming a powerful bond for good. Character development, including their companion animals, makes The Ring of Rosin an entertaining and inspiring read!”

If you like dragons and other magical creatures you will enjoy those aspects in my books. If you, like me, love horses, then you will also enjoy the three horses that I introduce into the Ring of Rosin. Each one has its own personality and has a role in the story.

Will the Ring of Rosin’s power on the Day of Questioning help Rugal defeat the foreign threat to Elayas, or will it be used to destroy him?

Read along and see!

My mission is simple: to write quality stories that speak to the hearts of my readers and to provide positive messaging, leaving them feeling better when they are done. My books will brighten your day. Thank you for choosing Ring of Rosin, Dear Reader. I am so glad you are joining me on this fantasy adventure as King Rugal faces his greatest challenge since ascending the throne of Elayas.

Darkness may descend, but light shall overcome it.

Dear Reader…

Are you tired of smut in your YA fantasy books? Do you long for whimsical fantasy adventures of old, like those found in The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, The Legend of Zelda, and Howl’s Moving Castle?

Well, guess what? I’ve written several series just for you! And if you would allow me a few moments of your precious reading time, I’d love to introduce you to them.

All my series have lots of adventure, unique magic, racially diverse characters, and romance elements (hold the spice). No offense or judgment to anyone who reads or writes or loves spice. It’s just not a personal preference of mine when reading fantasy, and so it’s not what I write. Plus, since I write for an audience that ranges so broadly from 12 to 18, I don’t personally feel that on-screen intimacy has a place in my books. Even if you’re like me, an adult who still loves YA, maybe you feel the same way and have the same preferences.

In that case, allow me to introduce you firstly to The Amielian Legends, a series of stand-alone books all set in the same fantasy universe, that can be read in any order. Adventure, magic, and romance await! There are some books where you know characters will be intimate, but these are entirely fade-to-black. This series is a great place to start if you’ve never read me before, because each book is about different characters and kingdoms, so you can end and start anywhere. A lot of my books take place specifically in the Lozolian Realm, which is located in our world. Inspired by Tolkien, I wanted to craft my own, alternate, magical history for North America. Hence, the world of Loz was born.

The first book in The Amielian Legends is Larimar: Gem of the Sea. Of course, you don’t have to read it first. But I bring it up because you may also like to know that it’s my first book to have an audiobook edition, released April 20th of this year, on my birthday. If you love adventures on the high seas or under the sea and mermaid vibes (but with underwater elves instead of actual mermaids), then this might be the perfect place for you to start.

But wait, there’s more! Introducing also The Gailean Quartet, a series I like to say is YA bordering on NA, as some of the main characters are in their early twenties later on in the series and start to have their own children and such. The Gailean Quartet is an epic saga filled with musical and elemental magic, castle court intrigue, good vs. evil quests, and characters who must decide whether to become the hero or villain of their tale. Again, there are a couple intimate scenes, but nothing is described on screen except some kissing and romantic tension. If you prefer a series that follows the same characters through an epic journey, this might be the one for you.

I also have a Christian fantasy trilogy, The Stregoni Sequence, if you’re looking for a more spiritual vibe. The trilogy also has a fairy tale romance vibe, with each book having characters under a spell that must be broken. The series includes my personal take on fantasy beings like vampires, banshees, and genies.

Last but not least, I give you my children’s collection, The Special Needs Heroes. Inspired by my day job where I work with adults who have autism and various disabilities, each book features characters with special needs and the adventures they take. Each is also illustrated by a different artist.

There you have it, dear reader. I hope that you and my series feel just a little more acquainted now. If you’re looking for a spice-free, magical, fantastical escape, I hope you’ll get to know one of my series a little better. They’re waiting for you to discover them and step inside their whimsical worlds.

Happy reading with love,

Christine E. Schulze

Christine E. Schulze has been living in castles, exploring magical worlds, and creating fantastical adventures and romances since she was too young to even write of such stories. Her collection of young adult and children’s fantasy books, The Amielian Legacy, is comprised of series and stand-alone books that can all be read separately, but also weave together to create a single, amazing fantasy.

One of her main aspirations for The Amielian Legacy is to create fantasy stories with characters that connect with readers from many different backgrounds. Her current focus is to include racially diverse characters and those with disabilities. The latter is inspired by Schulze working with adults with autism and other developmental disabilities at Trinity Services in Southern Illinois.

Schulze draws much of her inspiration from favorite authors like Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Diana Wynne Jones, favorite games like The Legend of Zelda, and especially from the people in her life. Dear Reader, Love Mike DiCerto

Dear Reader…

Reading a novel is more than just enjoying the obvious story on the pages. A novel is a living Rorschach test. It’s a transcription of the author’s mental workings into the people, places and things that form the tale. Welcome to A NICK OF TIME- a no holds barred imagination explosion – a wild and whimsical story with more colors than the rainbow, more adventure than a town of Hobbits and more fun that an Easter basket of rainbow monkeys.

If Nick of Time is your first Rupert Starbright adventure I want you to pay attention to some little details and themes that form the skeleton of all Rupert’s adventures. Rupert, first and foremost, loves his family and has a special bond with his Grandmother, Folka, who suffers from a chronic “coffus” – a coughing disease. The entire impetuous of his first big adventure (The Door to Far-Myst and The Secret of My-Myst) was to seek out a cure for her. His bond to his family and his home town and his deep sense of compassion, motivates all he does. For an eleven year old boy, his courage his formidable. In all of his adventures he faces the villain head on, risking his own life for a greater good. Yet, his amazing sense of compassion and empathy allows him to peer deeper in to heart, mind and soul of the baddies. Rupert always uses the incredible power of his Imaginings to transform the thinking and feelings of the bad guy. He is not one to kill or destroy the villain with potions and spells or swords. Rupert Starbright is a world changer. A heart changer and a mind changer. A powerful force our world desperately needs.

But don’t, for a moment, think the adventures of Rupert Starbright suffer from heavy handed virtue postering! Humor and fun is what grounds his tales. His imaginings are wild and creative and, especially in A NICK OF TIME, you will read in wonder has he interacts with some amazing characters and wields his potent power in very unique ways. It is my Rorschach test! My imagination splashed on the pages. I just let it flow, through my alter ego, Rupert Starbright.

What really makes A NICK OF TIME a blast is the cast of characters that inhabit the world of Annum. The Zodiac! All the characters from Aquarius to Sagittarius play key roles in helping Rupert track down the missing second that was stolen during his hometown’s New Years countdown, rendering Graysland and all its inhabitants frozen.

Oh, and did I mention this is a musical tale? Well it is. The folk of the Zodiac love to sing and each offers a song to Rupert as he travels across this wild land of time.

So read away! Soak in the crazy, colorful, funny and heart wrenching tale.

Sincerely,

Michael DiCerto

💌 Dear Reader, Love Cassie Sanchez

Dear Reader,

Have you ever questioned your purpose or lost your identity somewhere along the way? Well, I did. As a stay-at-home mom, my job and purpose was raising my two boys. But something happened when my youngest son, Chase, started driving. I felt I was no longer needed and that I hadn’t done anything important in my life. Now, logic told me otherwise, but my heart whispered something completely different.

I started looking for jobs or projects that would interest me, light a fire inside, and evolve into something that was all mine. Chase, who was participating in NaNoWriMo, challenged me to write a book since I loved reading so much. I had read around seventy-five books that year, and thought, why not? I attended a creative writing class where the instructor would give a prompt and you had five minutes to write, and then read it aloud. That first day I wanted to vomit everywhere, I was so nervous. But after that class, an ember burned. I loved it!

But I had a lot to learn about the craft. So, I dove into the deep end without floaties and read books, attended webinars, took online classes, and joined Jerry Jenkins Writers Guild, where I learned so much.

I was working on a story (that is currently shelved and a complete mess) when one day my boys were making a lot of noise as they played a video game. There was a character that intrigued me, and the creative bug smacked me upside the forehead. I started writing a scene with an assassin betrayed by his team and held prisoner in a dungeon. This became part of chapter four in Chasing the Darkness. From there, the story emerged as I continued to learn about plot points, character arcs, creating tension; the list goes on and on.

Two years of characters arguing in my head, Chasing the Darkness got picked up by Morgan James Publishing and, as they say, “the rest is history.” I’m currently working on book two and hope to have it finished in 2022.

Growing up, Cassie Sanchez always wanted superpowers and to be a warrior princess fighting alongside unlikely heroes. Suffice it to say, she lost herself in books, from fantasy to sci-fi to a suspenseful romance. Currently, Cassie lives in the southwest with her husband, Louie, while pestering her two adult men-children. She can usually be found drinking too much coffee while working in her office with her dogs warming her feet. When she isn’t writing about magic and sword fights, she enjoys golf, spending time with friends, or partaking in a satisfying nap.

Her latest book is Chasing the Darkness.

You can visit her website at https://www.cassiesanchez.com/ or connect with her on Twitter, Facebook and Goodreads.

Pain is inescapable. Suffering is a choice.

Azrael, the Angel of Death, knows pain. The deaths of his mother and sister, as well as his harsh experiences in the Watch Guard at age twelve, have brutally shaped him into the most feared assassin in all of Pandaren. Azrael’s role as a Hunter requires him to search for those with magic, called Spectrals, which he is happy to do. Hunting allows him to pursue his true goal—exacting revenge on the Fire Spectral who altered the course of his life.

Azrael’s obsession with revenge and power leads him to undergo an experimental procedure that gives him magic, but when this procedure has unexpected and dangerous side effects, he becomes a liability to the Hunters and the Watch Guard. Rescued by the people he has sworn to eliminate, Azrael finds himself questioning everything he once believed as years of secrets and lies are exposed. His very nature is challenged as he battles unfamiliar emotions and navigates relationships that contradict the heart of a killer.

Can the Angel of Death have a conscience? Can Azrael?

Chasing the Darkness is an escape to a land of magic, sword fights, and love, with memorable characters who must face the darkness within and journey down a path of destruction or redemption.

Thank you for visiting Dear Reader, Love Author!

Dear Reader, Love Kevin D. Miller

One of the many joys of being a writer is the ability to build expansive worlds that our readers get to explore as they tag along with the story’s main character. I, myself have loved running along the streets of Chicago with Harry Dresden in Jim Butcher’s, The Dresden Files and watched as Minalan the Spellmonger fought the forces of darkness in The Spellmonger Series by Terry Mancour. These and many other authors skillfully crafted massive and immersive worlds of wonder that we as readers get to experience first hand.  It was from these masters of the art that I took my cue when writing Awakening. With the main character Leif needing to traverse many of the nine realms from Norse mythology. I wanted to create awe inspiring realms that my readers, long after they finished Awakening found themselves thinking about the natural splendor of the forest city of Karcoa or the alien beauty of Helheim. I want them to wish they could travel back to the  Svartalfar capital city of Mykheim to stare out over the architectural marvel of the city. Because that’s exactly what I do for those books and movies I love.

It was through a little trick I discovered In the early stages of developing my story that I was able to create the immersive realms that Leif had to travel through. I would close my eyes, turn up my music and just imagine myself as Leif walking through these alien realms. Picturing in my minds eye what it must have been like to see Karcoa and its massive trees for the first time or the untold mysteries of the forest realm of Alfhiem. It was one of my favorite past times in the early days. I would just close my eyes and explore the realms with Leif for hours. It is an easy trick to learn to master and one I would recommend ally Fantasy and Science Fiction lovers try with your favorite story, I promise you it will have fun.

ABOUT THE BOOK

A megalomaniac god is pursuing a millennia-old vendetta, and Leif must learn to wrangle a newly awakened power to either become a hero or a villain. He will leave his old life and run from creatures he believed were reserved for myth and legend. He travels across the realms while struggling to tame the blinding rage that comes with his new demi-god like power. Will Leif survive the intra-realm quest and prevent Ragnarok or will he fail to control his awakening?
