Dear Reader, Love Christine E. Schulze

Dear Reader…

Are you tired of smut in your YA fantasy books? Do you long for whimsical fantasy adventures of old, like those found in The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, The Legend of Zelda, and Howl’s Moving Castle?

Well, guess what? I’ve written several series just for you! And if you would allow me a few moments of your precious reading time, I’d love to introduce you to them.

All my series have lots of adventure, unique magic, racially diverse characters, and romance elements (hold the spice). No offense or judgment to anyone who reads or writes or loves spice. It’s just not a personal preference of mine when reading fantasy, and so it’s not what I write. Plus, since I write for an audience that ranges so broadly from 12 to 18, I don’t personally feel that on-screen intimacy has a place in my books. Even if you’re like me, an adult who still loves YA, maybe you feel the same way and have the same preferences.

In that case, allow me to introduce you firstly to The Amielian Legends, a series of stand-alone books all set in the same fantasy universe, that can be read in any order. Adventure, magic, and romance await! There are some books where you know characters will be intimate, but these are entirely fade-to-black. This series is a great place to start if you’ve never read me before, because each book is about different characters and kingdoms, so you can end and start anywhere. A lot of my books take place specifically in the Lozolian Realm, which is located in our world. Inspired by Tolkien, I wanted to craft my own, alternate, magical history for North America. Hence, the world of Loz was born.

The first book in The Amielian Legends is Larimar: Gem of the Sea. Of course, you don’t have to read it first. But I bring it up because you may also like to know that it’s my first book to have an audiobook edition, released April 20th of this year, on my birthday. If you love adventures on the high seas or under the sea and mermaid vibes (but with underwater elves instead of actual mermaids), then this might be the perfect place for you to start.

But wait, there’s more! Introducing also The Gailean Quartet, a series I like to say is YA bordering on NA, as some of the main characters are in their early twenties later on in the series and start to have their own children and such. The Gailean Quartet is an epic saga filled with musical and elemental magic, castle court intrigue, good vs. evil quests, and characters who must decide whether to become the hero or villain of their tale. Again, there are a couple intimate scenes, but nothing is described on screen except some kissing and romantic tension. If you prefer a series that follows the same characters through an epic journey, this might be the one for you.

I also have a Christian fantasy trilogy, The Stregoni Sequence, if you’re looking for a more spiritual vibe. The trilogy also has a fairy tale romance vibe, with each book having characters under a spell that must be broken. The series includes my personal take on fantasy beings like vampires, banshees, and genies.

Last but not least, I give you my children’s collection, The Special Needs Heroes. Inspired by my day job where I work with adults who have autism and various disabilities, each book features characters with special needs and the adventures they take. Each is also illustrated by a different artist.

There you have it, dear reader. I hope that you and my series feel just a little more acquainted now. If you’re looking for a spice-free, magical, fantastical escape, I hope you’ll get to know one of my series a little better. They’re waiting for you to discover them and step inside their whimsical worlds.

Happy reading with love,

Christine E. Schulze

Christine E. Schulze has been living in castles, exploring magical worlds, and creating fantastical adventures and romances since she was too young to even write of such stories. Her collection of young adult and children’s fantasy books, The Amielian Legacy, is comprised of series and stand-alone books that can all be read separately, but also weave together to create a single, amazing fantasy.

One of her main aspirations for The Amielian Legacy is to create fantasy stories with characters that connect with readers from many different backgrounds. Her current focus is to include racially diverse characters and those with disabilities. The latter is inspired by Schulze working with adults with autism and other developmental disabilities at Trinity Services in Southern Illinois.

Schulze draws much of her inspiration from favorite authors like Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Diana Wynne Jones, favorite games like The Legend of Zelda, and especially from the people in her life. Some of her exciting ventures include the publication of her award-winning Bloodmaiden, as well as The Gailean Quartet with Words Matter Publishing. Her books for younger readers include In the Land of Giants and The Amazing Captain K.

Christine currently lives in a cozy Hobbit hole, but you can visit her on her website: http://christineschulze.com.
