Dear Reader,
First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for purchasing my book. The story you're about to delve into is a horror tale that navigates the delicate line between classic and extreme horror. Together, we'll accompany two groups of urban explorers on an expedition to abandoned barracks, relics of the Cold War era. Nela and Tess are there to complete a photography thesis, while Yelka, Zander, Vivien, and Damon are capturing images for their social media endeavors. As fate would have it, a gang of depraved hoodlums launches a violent attack, trapping them in a deadly battle for survival.
I assure you that this narrative will be sinister and chilling, evoking emotions of fear, anger, and disgust. Yet, amidst the darkness, we encounter resilient characters who confront their fears, perhaps transforming this tale of survival into one of vigilante justice.
Throughout the journey, I'll guide you through abandoned horrors and deranged souls. As an Urbexer—an urban explorer—I've witnessed these desolate places firsthand. Abandoned military complexes, replete with housing, shopping centers, sports facilities, and medical wards, offer vast expanses where solitude reigns. But encounters with others can be unpredictable. Once, while exploring an abandoned hospital, my friend and I observed a group gathering at an entrance, appearing to be photographers. Upon closer inspection, we realized they wielded steel pipes, not cameras, wreaking havoc upon entry. These were not mere youngsters but young adults up to no good.
Unlike the characters in my book, we managed to evade them. Later, I learned they posed as security, preying on photographers and pilfering valuables. The inspiration for my tale is grounded in reality, a reminder not to underestimate the dangers.
Rest assured, I'll serve as your seasoned guide, navigating through these horrors unscathed. Revel in the thrills, and do share your thoughts on the journey. Your feedback holds immense value to me.
Chillingly yours,
Jens Boele
