From the moment the glass slippers appear on her feet, Cinderella stands up for herself, rebels against her wicked stepmother and takes control of her life.
Dorothy follows the yellow brick road in her ruby slippers to find the Wizard of Oz in search of answers but finally realizes she had them all along.
And after Forrest Gump’s mother, Jenny, buys him his white running shoes, he’s off on a fascinating life. As she says,
“You can tell a lot about a person by their shoes- where they goin’, where they been”.
Shoes are really the first adult machine we are given to master. Think of the pairs you wore and you remember. Graduation? First Prom? Wedding? Shoes are a uniquely sole-ful object lesson for life and in my book I share some of the shoes I remember and the life and lessons that came along with them.
My Feats in These Shoes is a spunky, spirited, uplifting memoir that rather than giving you emotional bunions, will put you on your own path to an out of the shoebox life. I didn’t want to just share my life, I wanted to share the hard fought lessons I learned in hopes of inspiring and illuminating your steps toward becoming something bigger, something better, something more.
In my book are the stories of the different styles and sizes of shoes that took me into and out of tight spots. Shoes that I wore to step up or back. Shoes that helped me cross bridges and climb mountains—and accomplish some small, medium, and large feats.
I hope after reading My Feats in These Shoes you will not just know me, but you will know yourself more deeply and believe in your capacity for striding forward and up into the life that fits you perfectly.
