Peace and joy to you. I don’t know where to start in thanking the Lord for this opportunity. But I thank him every day, the fact that this passion work of mine is now available and ready to be shared with the world is surreal. But as a storyteller, this is the wholesome fruit to be enjoyed after so many years of dedication. I hope you find in WEEKS what I’ve found in other works in art. Escapism, hope, entertainment at the very least.
In the words of JRR Tolkien, “fantasy is escapist…” I find there to be some truth in this. Life is often unfair, hard, and sometimes doesn’t reward those who work to make ends meet. So to check out of this world is to go on vacation. I don’t have a whole thesis mapped out, but I believe there to be something in the arts of fiction that the Good Lord intended.
I realize that not everyone shares in my faith, but it is a hope of mine, that you find something in what I’ve created. There’s so much about the art of writing to unpack, and if you ask me at its very core, it remains a mystery. Maybe to better express this I can share with you a bit about me and my book.
You see WEEKS was for me, an escape. I was thirteen years old when I and my brother and our friend Katie started playing this zombie survival game. During a tumultuous and hard time in my life, this game of ours helped me to enjoy life for bits at a time. It gave me something to look forward to, it was fun, and best of all I was with my brother and Katie while doing so. I don’t know how life would’ve been different without WEEKS.
Now WEEKS hold another place in my life. Writing out our adventures of the game into a story and then working on it over the years. Well, I found my passion for writing, and I believe this passion is a gift from the Good Lord above. I find fulfillment and joy in writing. What I want to see now more than anything, is people finding something in WEEKS to help them through life. So I hope that WEEKS not only helps me but helps others as well. At the very least, for others to find enjoyment and be entertained while reading my book would be enough.”
