Thank you for taking the time to read my book Code Blue: An Oath to the Badge and Gun. This is a series of 5 books that delves into the life of Gary who is on the police force. He is one of the good cops on the police force who get caught up in police corruption, lies, racism, falsified reports and trying to keep his sanity through it all. This series is different than other books as these books are written in a poetry prose format and its character driven and spoken from Gary’s perspective.

What inspired me to write this series is all of the police brutality and killings of unarmed black men in America. While we always see and hear about the victims, the story is never told from a police officer’s perspective. So I decided to write a fictional character that is dealing with the daily struggles of being on the police force and whether he’s going to report his superiors and coworkers. Gary is caught up in his paycheck, medical benefits and pension. It’s do his 20 years and retire unscathed but it doesn’t always work out that way.

Another aspect of these books is the story line not only focuses on life on the police force for Gary but also dealing with life at home. He has a son named Gary, Jr and a wife. Gary, Jr. wants to be just like his father and become a police officer when he grows up. What Gary, Jr. doesn’t know is what goes on with his father until he starts seeing the news and his father is in front of his television screen every morning before school.

As the series progresses, Gary deals with many struggles in his mind and develops an alcohol addiction. It becomes his coping mechanism to escape from the reality he deals with everyday in his city. A large amount of police officers in today’s world have an alcohol addiction, drug addiction or a combination of both because of the stresses of his job. His escape to the suburbs and having a home there doesn’t help as his life of turmoil follows him there. He just doesn’t know of what magnitude until it’s too late.

Hopefully you the reader will enjoy reading the first book and continue to read the series as the first 3 books of the series are in all major bookstores. The ending of the series Parts 4 and 5 will be released in December.

About the Series:

The Code Blue: An Oath to the Badge and Gun series chronicles a police officer named Gary who has been on the force for a few years. He soon is entrenched in a lot of lies, corruption, racism and agendas being pushed by his superiors. The question throughout this series is whether he as a good cop becomes part of the corruption or does he report it?

Part of this series features his son Gary, Jr who is a young teenager wanting to be like his father and go into the police force. He soon learns through the news daily that the police force is not what it really is. Gary ends up having to share the truths of what goes on at work and the relationship between him and his son changes because of it. Now it becomes up to Gary what he is going to do about what goes on at work.
