Dear Reader, Love Amy Schisler

Dear Reader…

When I published the first book in my Chincoteague Island Trilogy in 2016, I had no idea it would become such a big fan favorite or that it would lead me down so many wonderful roads. I had just returned from my first trip to the Holy Land, and so much of Island of Miracles was born from the friendships I made and things I experienced on that trip. I knew there was something special about it, and apparently, so did you, my readers.

Here we are, six years later, and I felt myself unresistingly pulled back to that little island off the Eastern coast of Virginia. While I wanted the beloved characters of the first three books to still be on the island, I knew that this trilogy needed to stand on its own. Officer Nick Black inserted himself into this book like my dear, sweet, Nick White inserted himself into our lives, so his prominence in this book is not surprising to me. I fell in love with his character much the same as I did with the thirteen-year-old boy who became part of our family.

I hope you’ll fall in love with Jared as I did. I’ve always gravitated toward the Clark Kent types, and I’m often pleasantly surprised if his true Superman identity appears. However, the truth is, all of us have the ability to become Superman or Superwoman. Just ask Christy, who learns that she has more strength and courage than she ever thought possible. Once we find the faith and trust we need in God, in others, and especially in ourselves, we can do the impossible. Never forget that.

I hope you enjoy my book and your visit to Chincoteague Island. I look forward to our next trip together!
