Dear Reader…
I want to be the first to welcome you to The Grimm Cases universe! The Grimm Cases is set in a fictional alternate reality where some people have been born with abilities categorized within a fantasy version of Chinese Five Element medical philosophy. However, as the settings is in the modern-day world—and there’s just a hint of reality—it’s easy to fall into Grimm.
My main character, Bianca Brosnan, is someone who has suffered through and survived some of the evillest things that exist in our world. However, even though she has emotional and physical scars as the result of her ordeal, she’s managed to make it to adulthood without ever truly coming to terms with the bad in her past. As the result, she’s a unique character from any other series in the fact that she’s meant to be an unreliable narrator. We’re truly seeing the world from trauma-based lenses.
Book one, Origins, is entirely from her point-of-view. Which means, the reader is thrown into the thoughts of someone who is plagued with crippling anxiety, PTSD, extreme paranoia, and a heavy amount of avoidance disorder. What’s especially unique is that as she gains confidence throughout the series, the reader learns that what might be considered character flaws are actually her biggest strengths. Her faltering grip on reality is especially obvious as, starting in book two, Ghost, we have the point-of-views from the other four main characters added to the mix, which helps the readers further uncover the mystery that is Bianca.
This is a young adult urban fantasy, with some elements of romance, but even before that, this is a story about character growth, overcoming trauma, and being true to yourself as move through life and have to navigate through both the good and the bad.
I hope that you all enjoy this series as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it! And I hope it inspires everyone to love themselves.
Love,

The things I see aren’t for the faint of heart.
And I am no longer willing to ignore them. Not even when my family, and my best friend, tell me to keep quiet about what’s happening. They say people will think I’m crazy.
Maybe I am.
But the spirit haunting my professor’s house is definitely trying to tell me something, and I’m the only one who can see it.
The one person who can help me is my best friend’s brother. But I don’t know if I can trust him or his friends. Or if I can step outside the protective bubble I’ve built around myself.
At this point it’s a toss up: the ghosts will kill me or my panic attacks will.
Either way, I figure I’m going to die.
