Dear Reader…
Imagine that the story is a land that you could walk in.
Imagine the story line is your path, and you could walk through the gates of
the Beginning, Middle and End. In this land, the Beginning is a peaceful shore,
but entering the Middle means trouble. Would you continue, or go back to the
beginning? How would you cross the River
of Questions? How would you And how would
she use the pencil sharpener to help her get to the top of the Mountain
of Challenge? But what Scribble
really wants is to meet a friend. Author promises her that she will get her
wish if she continues her journey on the story path. But would he keep his
promise?
climb
the Mountain of Challenge?
And what is waiting for you behind the gate of the Ending? This is the journey
that Scribble is making, on my new picture book for children, Scribble &
Author. Scribble gets to talk to the author who created her, and she can even
use his writing tools. Can you guess how Scribble could change the story if she
takes the author’s eraser?
Writing this story was an unusual experience for me, because
it is a story about creating a story. I wrote it as a dialogue between the
author and his character. This dialogue goes on while the story is being
created. I’m also the illustrator of this picture book, and as the illustrator
I decided to use a technique of mixed media. The illustrations are done with
watercolor and pencils, but on top of them I used photographs of real objects,
such as the pencil, the brush and the eraser. I wanted to give you, the reader,
a glimpse into the creative process and a chance to walk with me behind the
scenes of the story. So come with me, bring your children, and together we’ll
take the journey in the land of story, with Scribble and Author.

About the Book:
Scribble &
Author is written as a dialogue between the main character, Scribble, and
the author who created her.
Scribble's journey
starts on a peaceful shore called THE BEGINNING, continues to the rough,
adventurous MIDDLE, and leads finally to the gate of THE ENDING, but it’s not
at all what Scribble expected… Scribble is a scribble and Author is an author,
but who really gets to tell the tale?
A picture book
about finding your own voice, making your own decisions, and writing your own
story.
