Dear Reader…
You hold in your hands a book that I impatiently waited
years to see. Did you know, as an author you have no control over when your
book is released? You submit the book to your publisher and pretty much have to
pretend it doesn’t exist anymore. If you keep thinking about your poor book
sitting there waiting for an artist to create the illustrations and an editor
to review the text, you’ll drive yourself crazy. It’s kind of like Christmas
morning when you stay in your room to play video games until your parents get
up: if you think about the presents sitting under the tree waiting to be opened
you’ll explode.
Macaroni and Cheese
for Thanksgiving is also a book that makes me a bit nervous. It’s different
from my other books. Little Shepherd and
A Christmas Kindness are sweet
stories with good messages. The only thing Macaroni
and Cheese for Thanksgiving has in common with them is that it takes place
on a holiday. It has twin boys who fight a lot, a dog that grabs the dinner off
the table, a frazzled mom, and a smart girl whose quick thinking might just
save the day. Nothing sweet in this one. Well, maybe the ending is kind of
sweet.
I was blessed to have the very talented Marina Movshina
create the illustrations for Macaroni and
Cheese for Thanksgiving. I’ve enjoyed her work for some time and was
thrilled when I learned she would be the artist. Just like no two snowflakes
are the same, no two artists are the same. They are all unique. If you’ve seen
enough of an artist’s work, you’ll know she created it even before you see her
signature on it.
My hope is that you like Macaroni
and Cheese for Thanksgiving as much as my other books. I would be thrilled
if sent me a quick note to let me know. You can reach me at
ccmal(at)charter(dot)net. Authors love to hear from their fans.
Thanks for reading my latest story.
Love,
Cheryl C. Malandrinos

Ten-year-old Macy

swings open, Grandma and Grandpa are covered with hugs and kisses. Crash! Everyone rushes in to find the dog
gnawing a meaty turkey leg. Can Macy’s quick thinking save dinner?
Thanks for hosting me. What a great idea for a blog!
